Main reasons for mis-sale

Many banks did not tell their new customers that a free account was available and gave mis-leading information that stated they had to pay for their current account.
The terms and conditions of these accounts are rarely conveyed in their entirety to consumers. For instance with most of the insurance services it is a requirement that each item is registered with the bank along with price limits, this is not normally explained at the point of sale.
A common tactic used to sell packaged current accounts is telling the consumer that they will have a better chance of being approved for a loan, credit card or mortgage if they have this type of account. Consumers who were solely after credit were also pushed into taking out this type of account before they even applied for it.

Packaged Bank Accounts Claim Facts

You can claim even if you have closed the account.

This is not a problem, past or present accounts are viable to complain on. We will need details of the account, but it is possible for us to find this information for you.

You can have your money in as little as 8 weeks.

Once your bank or building society has received the complaint, they must conform to the 8 week timescales set out by the Financial Conduct Authority to bring your case to conclusion. If you do not have the account number or they reject the complaint the process can take considerably longer.

You can only complain once.

Many people decide to try and complain about their account on their own to then find it is much more difficult than they expected and their complaint is rejected. Once a complaint has been made, it is rare that a bank will allow that complaint to made again by an expert. It may be possible for an expert to refer the case to the Financial Ombudsman Service within six months but this could add years to the process.
