Main reasons for mis-sale

Many banks did not tell their new customers that a free account was available and gave mis-leading information that stated they had to pay for their current account.
The terms and conditions of these accounts are rarely conveyed in their entirety to consumers. For instance with most of the insurance services it is a requirement that each item is registered with the bank along with price limits, this is not normally explained at the point of sale.
A common tactic used to sell packaged current accounts is telling the consumer that they will have a better chance of being approved for a loan, credit card or mortgage if they have this type of account. Consumers who were solely after credit were also pushed into taking out this type of account before they even applied for it.
